Billeting clarifications for U18AAA Rocky Mountain Raiders families
Please see below for Billeting clarifications for U18AAA Rocky Mountain Raiders families
Hockey Alberta allows for AFHL U18AAA teams to offer compulsory educational elements on page 16 of the Policies and Procedures Handbook —we as an association do not believe that is in the best interests our program to mandate this.
POLICIES & PROCEDURES HANDBOOK (rampinteractive.com)
- OOAA does not require players to live and billet in Okotoks to play for the U18AAA Raiders.
- Parents / Players have the right to make their own educational choice for High School
- The daytime program (practice schedule) is aligned with the Foothills Composite Bell Schedule
- As the Foothills Comp is currently over capacity they require Students to be residents in their designated catchment area. This is a school decision and is the same requirement as the Okotoks Dawgs Baseball program. Schools that choose to accept students from outside their catchment area do not receive funding from Alberta Education.
- Several players are enrolled in the school of their choice in Calgary, St Lukes in Okotoks or online programming. They have worked out their respective school’s schedule to allow them to participate in daytime practices.
- OOAA has a designated heated and secure storage locker to allow players to store their equipment. This is an essential support piece to facilitate a daytime program as we don’t have individual locker rooms for these daytime teams.
If any families have any other concerns around billeting, daytime programming or schooling options please directly reach out to the OOAA President, Dan Laplante: dlaplante@okotokshockey.com.
