
Colin Cooper - Goalie Coach
Colin began coaching at 19 while playing Junior A in Calgary, where his passion for teaching and helping young goalies grow took root. Over the past nine years, he has deepened his understanding of the position, working with goalies from minor hockey to university and professional levels. One of his greatest lessons has been recognizing that each goalie is unique and requires a tailored development plan. His coaching career started with the GDI, where he was a lead goalie instructor. He worked with goalies from U11-Junior. Over the last ten years, he has built his coaching resume working with groups such as Edge School, Calgary Buffaloes, Calgary Crusaders, Calgary Northstars, Spartans, Sauce, and Okotoks. He does scouting and consulting for several Junior A, WHL and NCAA Teams. He also currently serves as the Mount Royal University Goalie Coach, as well as serviced the goalies in Okotoks for the last two seasons.
Tyler Wagner- Skills/Video Development Coach
Tyler began coaching at 20 after playing Junior Hockey in BC, where his passion for teaching and helping players get to the next level took place. Over the past 12 years, he has strived to learn and add to his skill sets through coaching/scouting/attending seminars/running as many ice times over the summer with all age groups and genders as he can. One of his greatest lessons has been recognizing that each player is unique and requires a tailored development plan. His coaching career started with the Calgary Northstars where he coached every level from U18AAA to U15AA. He then transitioned into coaching with the Calgary Royals at the U18AAA level as the head coach where he spent two seasons. After stepping down to pursue other opportunities he then came back to the U18 side where he joined our Okotoks staff on the Male U18AAA team. On top of all this, he is moving into year 9 with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL. He is the head Alberta/BC scout with the organization and is also in charge of Scouting Operations. In the summer he runs ice times focused on skill development that range from U13-Pro and consist of both male and female hockey players.
Ken Plaquin is a former professional hockey player and experienced coach who brings decades of knowledge to player development. He played professionally in North America and Europe before transitioning into coaching and hockey operations. His career includes serving as Head Coach and GM of the Kindersley Klippers in the SJHL, skill development roles with the Okotoks Oilers Athletic Association, and leadership positions with programs such as CNHA, NWCAA, and the Calgary Northstars. With additional scouting experience in the WHL, Ken is recognized for his ability to develop athletes at every level, emphasizing skill refinement, situational awareness, and balanced growth both on and off the ice. Ken serves as the current U17 AAA Oilers coach for OOAA.
Mark Pederson is a former NHL forward and accomplished international coach whose career spans over three decades in professional hockey. Drafted 15th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1986, he played 169 NHL games with Montreal, Philadelphia, San Jose, and Detroit before continuing his career in Europe until 2005. Following his playing days, Pederson built an impressive coaching résumé across multiple countries, including head coaching roles in Germany’s DEL, Denmark’s Metal Ligaen, Japan’s Asia League, and the Netherlands, as well as leading the Serbian National Team. Currently working as the U18 AAA Bowmark Oilers Head Coach and Coach Director for OOAA Hockey in Alberta, he is known for blending position-specific training, tactical awareness, and game-situation preparation, offering players a well-rounded development model shaped by his global coaching perspective.
